The Game Awards Nintendo Recap

The Game Awards Nintendo Recap

So last night was The Game Awards which if you don’t know is an award show celebrating the best games from the past year with world premiere trailers (essentially the Oscars for Video Games). It was a lot of fun to watch for three hours with so many amazing trailers. Though I’m not going to go over everything shown during the award show so lets get started with all of the awards from a Nintendo property or a game on a Nintendo system.

The first game that won an award was Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for Best Strategy Game which I was surprised by since they beat X-Com 2 an amazing strategy game. After Mario+Rabbids the next game to win an award was Super Mario Odyssey for Best Family Game which I totally expected to win because of how fun it was. The game that was next up was Metroid: Samus Returns for Best Handheld Game, and what I found funny was that all of the nominees were all games exclusively on the 3DS. Finally, the final game to win awards was The Legend of Zelda :Breath of the Wild with 2 awards. These awards were Best Game Direction, and Game of the Year witch made me so happy since it is such a fun game with an awesome story, great visuals, and many outfits and weapons with call backs to past games.

Along with all of the awards there were also a few announcements from Nintendo. The first reveal trailer was for Breath of the Wild DLC pack 2 The Champions Ballad. The trailer started off with Link pulling out a pitchfork like weapon that then shatters into four pieces. Each piece the color that matches with one of the champions. It then cuts to all of the Champions fighting various in game enemies. After it cuts to a structure that is three pillars with an image of the Pitchfork like weapon lighting up on it, along with a shrine rising from the sea with a pillar on top. We are then show the insides of the new shrines. Following this we see the new costumes in this DLC pack which are Ravio’s hat, Zant’s helmet, the Phantom Ganon outfit from OOT (Ocarina of Time), the Elite Royal Gaurds’s outfit, and finally the Ancient gear for your horse which can teleport your horse to you when ever you need them. We are then shown pillars and land changing/moving around with the screen then cutting to white. The screen then fades into the various new memories. The final shot in the entire trailer was the biggest reveal of Links new motorcycle named the Master Cycle Zero.

The final bit of Nintendo news from The Game Awards was concerning Bayonetta. We were given the news that we would be getting Bayonetta 2 for the Nintendo Switch, and it would come with a full download of the original Bayonetta. The final piece of news has made so many Bayonetta fans really happy with a Bayonetta 3 confirmed, but exclusive for the Nintendo switch.

So that was everything Nintendo related in The Game Awards I hope that you enjoyed this look through. If you watched tell me who you wanted to win, and are glad who won. I’ll see you guys later. Bye.

    1. I would say to go off of your preference of games like if you enjoy a lot of FPS games then get a PS4, but if your a fan of games like Zelda, Mario, or Metroid (Since Metriod Prime 4 is on it’s way). Personally I would go with the Switch since I can get a lot more play time since I can bring it with me on the go, and there are so many amazing games coming and already on the system.
